The Real Women. REal Stories. Film Project
Behind every passport stamp and relocation are stories that rarely surface—stories of loss, longing, quiet courage, and resilience.
Our two part — Real Women. Real Stories. Film Project was created to honor those journeys. Below you will find glimpses of the short films we’re creating—each one capturing a unique story of life lived far from home.
Note: Access to the full 'Director's Cut' series is included in the Far From Home Community Membership.

Every woman’s journey far from home carries both beauty and ache.
Some left for love, some for calling, some by necessity—and each story bears quiet grief, resilience, and hope. In their own words, women from different walks and seasons share what it has meant to live between cultures, to long for belonging, and to discover God’s presence in unexpected places. Here are just a few of their voices.
“It’s the little things—music, scents, and flavors that take me back. Without them, I fear I’ll start to forget. When homesickness sets in, it brings a quiet wave of nostalgia and melancholy—often invisible to others, but always there. Through faith that I’ve found a sense of home—even when I’m far from it”
Immigrated to the United States
“I optimistically boarded a plane for parts unknown - prepared for adventure but unprepared for the loneliness and isolation I found. Community for my husband was built-in—but for me, it was essentially non-existent. I deeply needed community in order to process these issues.”
Military Spouse Deployed in Asia
“We began a 2 year stay to help build a school. I picked up the language, but my husband didn’t, and his frustration often spilled onto me. I felt isolated—unable to confide in anyone because of how it might look and because of the language barriers. A safe place outside the ministry would’ve meant everything. I’m so grateful for what Far From Home will offer.”
